Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Newton’ was selected as India’s official entry for Oscar. Looks like Priyanka Chopra is not happy with this news. Priyanka and her mother Madhu Chopra were reportedly disappointed with the fact that her production venture Ventilator lost out to Newton in the Oscar race.
‘Ventilator’ had received a standing ovation at the New York Film Festival, and was among the 26 entries in the race to the Oscars. Apparently, both Priyanka and her mother were hopeful that the film would make it to the final list.
Director Rajesh Mhapuskar revealed that Madhu had called him excitedly, the day before the verdict was announced, “I told her not to worry, assuring her that only the best film would make it. We were a bit disappointed when we learnt about the verdict, the next day” he said.
Ventilator was a huge hit and also won three National awards this year, including Best Director award for Rajesh Mhapuskar.
