Famous author Mario Puzo’s crime fiction novel The Godfather was originally published in 1969 by G. P. Putnam’s sons. Bollywood have film series based on this novel like – Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Gangs of Wasseypur.
Soon our Marathi film industry is also going to welcome this novel based movie titled Raaiba (रायबा) with a complete Marathi flavor by director Milind Kavde. He is a well known director who always handles different subjects for his films like Yedyanchi Jatra, Shinma, Just Gammat and 1234. Raaiba will be using the plot of The Godfather novel as it’s story. The story will revolve around the journey of a farmer’s son to becoming a gangster. The film will be produced under ‘Out Of The Box’ banner.
After giving chartbusters like ‘Chimani Udali’ and upcoming ‘Aapla Haath Jagannath’ songs Aanand Shinde is all set to playback for Rayba.
While talking about the film, director Milind Kavde says that since the starting of his career he has handled such different subjects, which is habitual for him now. So he wants to bring this amazing crime fiction novel ‘The Godfather’ to Marathi viewers but with complete Marathi twist. This movie has used only the plot of novel and the whole screenplay is written according to Marathi viewers.
Star Cast for the film is yet to be decided but around 30 to 35 Marathi stars will be seen in the movie. It will be shot on 16 to 17 locations like Sangamner, Waai, Nagar, Kolhapur, Aklooj, Pathaar.
Raaiba is to start it’s shoot in December 2016.
