Arrange marriage and its process is quite interesting and comical sometimes, when it comes to a typical Marathi family. Two unknown people try to exchange their views in a series of meetings with family members looking at them. They judge each other on in those meetings and decide whether to go ahead or not. Chi Va Sau Ka touches the same theme and tries to give us something interesting and innovative.

The film begins with Savitri (Mrunmayee Godbole) who is a veterinary doctor and is a vegan. She can’t tolerate nonveg and don’t want to marry a boy who relishes or even touches meat. She meets Satyaprakash (Lalit Prabhakar), an electrical engineer and an obsessed water conservationist.  Coincidentally, they get hooked up in an arrange marriage process with their families interested in their pairing up. Savitri is stubborn and declares that she wants to spend 2 months with Satyaprakash before she gives her decision. This unexpected stance from Savitri is not taken practically and it starts a drama and comedy between the otherwise orthodox families. Savitri comes to Satyaprakash’s house and they start living and spending time together. Meanwhile, there is tension and curiosity between their parents which leads to a laughter riot. Will Savitri say yes to Satyaprakash after 2 months? Will two people who are poles apart can come together?

Mrunmayee Godbole and Lalit Prabhakar are good in their respective roles. Their dialogue delivery is superb and they their comic timing too accurate and precise. Their family members played by Sharmishtha Raut, Jyoti Subhash, Supriya Pathare, Pradeep Joshi do a decent job is keeping the comedy alive. It is again Pushkar Lonarkar who steals the show with his one liners. Paresh Mokashi shows his creativity once again, after Harishchandrachi Factory & Elizabeth Ekadashi and shows how critical it is to understand your partner before you end up saying yes in an arrange marriage. He tries to show it through comedy which I believe is a difficult genre to handle such sensitive topic. He comes out with flying colors and keep us entertain by showing smaller nuisances which will click to any core Marathi audience.

There are numerous small instances which keeps on bringing smile and one easily connects with the middleclass family shown in the movie. This movie is full on fun and takes farcical comedy to a different level.
