Con Man Cheats With Marathi Actress

Cyber crime is not new to anyone of us. Web is the easiest & most innovative way for cons. Marathi film industry is also facing this problem since last eight months. In the name of well known American series, Marathi film actresses are facing this cyber crime for casting purpose. A complaint was lodged regarding this humiliating cyber crime at Bandra – Kurla Cyber Cell.

‘A Good Wife’ is a famous series in America. “We are launching 8th season and for the same we are urgently looking for Indian actress for lead”. This message was spread since last 8 months. Actresses were given reference of known sources. They were told to give their audition through Skype.

Actress Megha Dhade says that even she received such message on 22nd September in the name of Mark Saks who is a popular American director. She researched about Mark on Google and said yes to the audition. She was asked for her photo. Then she was told that she is perfect for this role and she needs to give an urgent audition through Skype. She received a Skype ID in the name of Nelson McCormick who is also a well known casting director in America. While giving the audition Megha realised that she is visible to Nelson but she can’t see anyone on the screen. He gave the reason of technical issues. After few questions related to career he asked Megha some too personal questions. When Megha realised that the tone of questions is getting humiliating and bad she refused for further audition and then on 2nd October she lodged the complaint in Cyber Crime Cell.

As per a Cyber cell police these people approach the actresses with known references this is the reason they are entertained. There is a possibility that any industry person is might be involved in it. A person who takes audition is not visible on Skype but he sees clips. So there is also a possibility of recording.

Also, Cyber Cell has asked Skype to answer about this as this whole incident happened on Skype. The reply form Skype is still awaited. So it’s difficult to say anything now – said a person form Cyber Cell.

Not only Megha Dhade but other actresses also went through this. Let’s see what they say about it –
“These are frightening instances..
When we receive such messages we search it on Google but when director and series is well known it’s easy to believe them. But here the person who takes audition doesn’t even shows his face. We don’t even know whether his name is real or not. It’s too frightening & a reason to worry.”
